The call to Wisdom last year led us to an ever-increasing revelation of who Jesus Christ is and that He truly is the Wisdom of God. All true wisdom will ultimately lead to the revelation of Jesus Christ and the result will be that we will be changed in His character and likeness.Ps 17:1515 As for me, I will behold thy face in righteousness: I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with thy likeness. The year 2013 is a call to grow in the wisdom of God as never before and this will be accomplished as we discover the riches of God in Christ Jesus. As always when the Lord gives revelation the enemy seeks to bring about a counterfeit to the work of the Lord. What will be the counterfeit Satan will try to substitute for wisdom in 2013? It will be an effort at all out “deception.” The temptation toward deception in 2013 will be great. One of the reasons this will be is that with the increase of wisdom comes the temptation of pride.1 Cor 8:1-3We know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge puffs up, but love edifies. 2 And if anyone thinks that he knows anything, he knows nothing yet as he ought to know. 3 But if anyone loves God, this one is known by Him.This word “puffs up” comes from a Greek word that means to be “inflated.” True knowledge that leads to wisdom will create an ever-increasing level of humility. How will I know I am growing in knowledge, understanding, and wisdom? We will know because we will have the experience of Job as a result of this increased knowledge, understanding and wisdom.Job 42:5-65 “I have heard of You by the hearing of the ear,But now my eye sees You.6 Therefore I abhor myself,And repent in dust and ashes.”NKJVWhat Job abhorred in himself was the spirit of “pride.” Even though Job was more accurate than his comforters in his knowledge of the Lord and the Lord’s ways and was the wisest man of his day, He still had no understanding of the true glory of the Lord. When the Lord chose to reveal Himself to Job there just was no strength left in him. True wisdom will result in true humility. The wisdom of this world will result in comparing, competition, strife and pride. We all need to have a measuring meter hooked up to our heart and every time we compare, envy or seek to compete with someone that meter would send an electrical charge to our body. I think we would be astounded how often it would go off. The frequency of and severity of these jolts would tell us clearly how great our capacity for deception is. You see Satan has authority to work wherever there is darkness. Envy, jealousy, strife, insecurity and competition are his domain. Where ever these exist he operates freely. In other words he deceives and deceives quite easily. Our largest tendency for deception is not the above mentioned dangers. No, it is quite easily measured and discovered by the amount of times we use the pronoun I. Some of us would not be able to even carry on a conversation if we were not allowed to use the word I. For others it is that they have a compulsion to talk incessantly. It is impossible to carry on a conversation with those who are bound by this deception.I have tried to talk with many who are trapped in this lie. Their usual answer is this – “I am trying to get people to understand me and my situation. How can I get people to understand if I cannot finish my talking.” Do you see the deception here? I, me and my! The very words Satan used when he was cast out of heaven.Isa 14:12-1512 “How you are fallen from heaven,O Lucifer, son of the morning! How you are cut down to the ground,You who weakened the nations!13 For you have said in your heart:’I will ascend into heaven,I will exalt my throne above the stars of God;I will also sit on the mount of the congregationOn the farthest sides of the north;14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds,I will be like the Most High.’15 Yet you shall be brought down to Sheol,To the lowest depths of the PitNKJVWhat is the cure then for deception? It begins with a determination to ask for the mercy and grace of the Holy Spirit to reveal our darkness and then to teach us to change our thought life that centers around “self.”The problem with all of this however is that a great deal of today’s preaching and teaching begins with and ends with the focus on the believer and not on Jesus Christ. I am afraid that in an effort to build great churches, we ministers have fallen into the deception that we must cater our messages to prospering of the saints.2 Tim 4:3-43 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables. This word says that we are to withdraw ourselves from those teachers that are unbalanced in their approach to “gain.” Instead the largest Churches in America and often around the world are those that cater to the success and prosperity of the believer.Dear one, it is not that the Lord does not desire to bless us and prosper us, but it is the priority with which we have placed these things. In our next writing we will explore more fully how easily it is for us to get things out of order. If biblical order and priority are not in our life, we will not continue to serve the Lord. Order, in error, allows the enemy of our souls to easily deceive not only us, but whole movements, denominations and ministries. Truly the truth of order and priority are one of the greatest aspects that Wisdom will reveal to us this year.
