Indeed, I have an acquaintance that is running for office, he is a Democrat, and recently he was talking to an individual at Starbucks who has a sticker on his car which reads; “live better, work union,” and when I read that on his bumper I thought to myself that if everyone worked union, and everyone made more money, then there would be wage inflation, and everything that you see and buy would cost more. In this case your money would buy less, be worth less, and therefore everyone would be equally poor.In other words that sticker may get people to think that everyone should be paid more money, but the reality is people are only worth as much as they produce in the free-market when it comes to their labors, and if they cannot produce, or don’t feel like it, then they are not worth the money they are paid in the first place. Now you can call me a right wing radical if you want, you can even assert that I am part of the Tea Party you wish, and while it is true that Friedrich Winslow Taylor was in my family tree and created the concept of piecemeal work and actually getting paid for what you’re produce, it’s not that I am against the American worker, it’s just that I know what I see when I see it.There are far too many lazy Americans. Worse, some of my second-generation immigrant friends who still go by a salutation of a hyphenated-American are getting rather lazy themselves, but it’s because we have taught them poor work ethic. This is unfortunate because our nation is declining in population and it is only the immigrants which are producing the next generation of workers. There is a theory that if a nation does not produce 2.2 offspring for every couple that the economy cannot grow, and this would assume that economic growth is good in the long term. There was an interesting piece in the AP recently, I found it on MSNBC titled; “Census shows record 1 in 3 US counties are dying,” by a writer named By Hope Yen published on March 14, 2013. The article reiterated the challenges that many of the counties in the United States have more people dying, than are being born. Many large corporations have noted that they cannot hire the workers they need with the skills and education needed to run their companies. They have no choice but to hire an immigrant with those skills. Although many unions are against such things, they aren’t stepping up to the plate to learn the skills, get themselves educated, and provide the productivity needed to move the ball down the field for higher profits and the growth of their companies. Oh, don’t get me wrong there are training programs with unions for some things, but not for the higher-tech type jobs.So whose fault is that? One thing I would like to say here is that if you are a business person; “don’t be ignorant hire an immigrant,” as they are “often” smarter, and many of them are better educated than those in the United States, especially when it comes to the math and science, or computers and engineering. That is the cold hard reality. If you don’t like it, then you need to work harder, stop demanding more, and put your walk where your talk is. Simply having a sticker on your car trying to politically promote what’s best for you is not necessarily best for our country. Bad mouthing corporations, company executives, and everyone else will not change that fact. What I am saying is this; labor needs to wake up, get real, look at themselves in the mirror, and get with the program. We are only going to have a left-leaning socialist Democrat in the White House for a few more years. And I’d like to leave you with that thought.
