Well, not long ago I was talking to a gentleman, an acquaintance, who explained to me that although our politicians claim they are pro-growth and pro-jobs, that can mean many different things to many different people. Some politicians may see their pro-growth strategies more akin to crony capitalism, helping only those corporations that have funded their campaign into government directed money flows. They then claim they are helping produce jobs. For some politicians such statements could mean that they are pro-union, and thus, pro-jobs. Yes, this is an interesting topic isn’t it? Let’s discuss this if we might.Interestingly enough, politicians have been telling us for years out here in California that they are pro-jobs, and pro-growth. They always tell us what they are doing to improve the economy, and that they are making a difference. However the reality is that over the last 40 years things have gotten worse, but every single politician along the way has spouted off the same baloney. Their words ring hollow. Many people “hoped that would change” and still it gets worse. There was an interesting article on MSN Money Online news, posted on April, 18, 2013 titled; “Regal Cinema sees backlash over ObamaCare cuts Moviegoers are vowing to boycott the country’s biggest theater chain after it slashes employees’ hours to avoid the new law,” by Aimee Picchi. The article stated that;”Shame on you for cutting employees’ hours to avoid giving them healthcare while your CEO made $4.4 million and other executives were given large bonuses. You lose my business,” one person wrote on Regal’s Facebook.”Actually, $4.4 million for a CEO of a company that large is well below the norm and $4.4 million is a drop in the bucket of what ObamaCare would cost the company annually, so this illegitimate comment needs to be taken with a grain of salt. Further for anyone, any group, any politician, or the media to be calling for a boycott in this economy needs their heads examined. If Regal Cinema raises prices to cope with the increased costs, fewer movie goers will attend, so they lose either way – if the company cannot stay in business those commercial properties will go bankrupt. When the left-leaning voters and semi-socialists start doing boycotts of corporations, they fail to realize that they are hurting the very jobs they proclaim to desire. There is no honor in that, nor is there honor in propping up bad legislation and laws such as ObamaCare. It doesn’t work, it can’t work, and all it will do is cost us more jobs. Just talk to any small business person. Ask them what they think, ask them if they are going to hire anyone this year. Perhaps they can explain it to you more eloquently than I have laid it out here in this article. Please consider all this and think on it.
